Alupo Hails Hoima City Stadium as AFCON 2027-Ready World-Class Facility

The Vice President of Uganda, H.E. Rtd Maj. Jessica Alupo, has hailed the completion of Hoima City Stadium, describing it as a world-class facility that underscores Uganda’s readiness to successfully host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Alupo made the remarks while leading Ministers and State Ministers on a tour of Hoima City Stadium, the Kingfisher Oil Development Area, and Kabalega International Airport in Hoima and Kikuube districts on Sunday. The tour formed part of activities marking the conclusion of the Cabinet Retreat in Kyankwanzi.

She expressed satisfaction with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, noting that the facility meets international standards required for major continental tournaments.

“During the groundbreaking, I was impressed to witness the state-of-the-art stadium, confirming that Uganda is ready to host AFCON 2027. It is very exciting to see that it is now fully fledged, complete, and matches global standards,” Alupo said.

She urged the teams responsible for managing and maintaining the facility to ensure it remains in excellent condition and continues to meet both national and international expectations.

“We call upon the teams charged with the responsibility of sustaining the stadium to diligently perform their roles so that the facility remains in good shape and meets the expectations of all the people,” she added.
