INAUGURATION OF THE NEW NCS COUNCIL, 2022-2024
National Council of Sports has today held the inauguration and swearing in of the newly appointed NCS Chairperson and members of the Council for the term of 2 years 2022 to 2024.
The new Council/Board shall be headed by Mr. Ambrose Tashobya as Chairperson, becoming the 18th Chairperson of the NCS.

The Minister of Sports, Hon. Obua during the inauguration tasked the new board to 'walk the talk' of moving sports forward. ‘We need to fast track the sports policy so that we move the sports sector forward.’ ‘We need stability in sports especially in National Sports Associations/Federations because we are guided by rules and regulations.’
The outgoing Chairman Dr. Donald Rukare thanked Hon. Obua for entrusting him with the stewardship of NCS for the last Two years that saw Uganda have the best performance at the global stage despite COVID19 pandemic, Ugandan athletes broke World records and won 5 medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics emerging Second In Africa.
The new Council Chairperson, Mr. Ambrose Tashobya pointed out Seven (7) Priority areas that the new Council will address themselves to:
1. Stability of N/As and ensuring harmony among stakeholders and professionalize sports throughout the country.
2. Provision of appropriate infrastructure for sports throughout the country and improving access to sports equipment and lobbying for tax exemptions to ease realization of the same.
3. Creating more high performance centers and academies in different regions of the country.
4. Strengthening Council to improve operations and financial performance, re-enforcing transparency and accountability.
5. Endeavor to work with key stakeholders to increase funding for sports and create partnerships that can help supplement the budget especially for infrastructural development.
6. Guiding in completing the review of the Physical Education and Sports Policy in order to give rise to the PAS Bill meant to amend and repeal the NCS Act of 1964.
7. Reach out to different Stakeholders with the motive of creating formidable partnerships to support sports development.
