WEEK REVIEW: KCCA FC &PROLINE FC UP FOR CAF CONFEDERATION CUP, CRICKET CRANES TOUR TO ZIMBWABWE, 1ST AFRICA CUP WOODBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND MORE
FOOTBALL
KCCA FC and Proline FC are Uganda’s representatives at the CAF Confederations Cup and in the play off round, first round, KCCA FC drew 0-0 against Algeria’s Paradouc AC and equally Proline also drew 2-2 against Libya’s Al-Nasr in Alexandra, Egypt. In the return leg, KCCA FC is set to face off with Paradou AC on Sunday, 03th November 2019 in Algeria while Proline FC will host Al-Nasr at the Startimes Stadium, Lugogo on Sunday, 03rd November 2019.
Today, 01st Friday November 2019, in the Uganda Premier League, SC Villa shall play URA FC at Maroons Prisons Grounds, Luzira at 4:30pm while Bul FC will equally play Kyetume at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru at 4;30pm
The Inaugural FUFA Women Super League kicks off this weekend with match day 1 on Saturday 02nd November 2019 having Kampala Queens WFC facing off Olila HS WFC at IUIU Kabojja Grounds and UCU Lady Cardinals play She Corporates WFC at UCU Grounds. On match day 2 on Sunday 03rd November 2019, Kawempe Muslims LFC play Uganda Martyrs WFC at Kawempe Moslems Grounds while Mutesa 1 Royal WFC play against Lady Doves WFC at IUIU Kabojja Grounds.
CRICKET
The Cricket Cranes are set to participate in the round One of the ICC World Challenge League against Kenya, Jersey, Bermuda, Italy and Hong Kong in Oman from the 01st to 12th December 2019. Thereafter, Uganda shall host round two from the 27th July to 06th August 2019.
Accordingly, a 16 man squad has been selected for a tour of Zimbabwe from the 03rd to 09th November 2019 in preparation of the Cricket Cranes for the above tournament and today National Council of Sports flagged off the team at Lugogo.
The Cricket team comprises of Arnold Otwani, Shazad Kamal, Riazat Sha, Roger Mukasa, Charles Waiswa, Brian Masaba (Team Captain), Henry Ssenyondo, Fred Achelam, Richard Agamire, Hamu Kayondo, Frank Nsubuga, Ronak Patel, Dinesh Nakrani, Jonathan Ssebanja and Bilal Hassan
WOODBALL
The 1st Africa Cup Woodball Championships is happening from the 05th to 09th November 2019 at USIS, Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. Uganda shall battle out for the top slot against Kenya, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.
BASKETBALL
Its only six (6) days to the FIBA 3X3 Africa Cup 2019 that shall be hosted by Uganda from the 08th to 10th November 2019 at the Lugogo in categories of open and under 18 category for both men and women.
Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Djibouti, Madagascar, Nigeria, Cape Verde, Togo, Niger, Benin, Botswana, Egypt, Mauritius and Mali are expected to participate in this inaugural event.
Meanwhile Uganda’s JKL Lady Dolphins won 63-56 against Kenya’s KPA to win the FIBA Zone V Women’s Club Championships in Tanzania.
