WEEK REVIEW: UGANDA CURRENTLY TOPS IN OMAN, CECAFA TOURNAMENTS AND MORE SPORTS EVENTS HAPPENING OVER THE WEEKEND
CRICKET
Uganda currently tops the table standings at the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B happening in Muscat, Oman after securing 3 straight wins against Jersey, Kenya and Bermuda. Uganda will now set out for a fourth win against Italy on Monday 09th December 2019 and the last match shall be against Hong Kong on Wednesday 11th December 2019.
Uganda has to at least finish among the top four teams by the end of the rounds to maintain their place in the challenge League, as the bottom two sides will be relegated to another qualification tournament. The qualification series will have the first round take place in Oman while the second round will be held Uganda next year while the third round will come in 2021 at a venue yet to be announced. These being part of the qualification series to the 2023 International Cricket World Cup to be hosted in India.
Meanwhile the girls cricket team is gearing up for the Africa Under19 Girls Cricket Tournament that will be hosted in Uganda at Entebbe, Kyambogo and Lugogo Cricket Ovals from the 16th to 21st December 2019 with participating teams from Rwanda, Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe and hosts Uganda.
FOOTBALL
Uganda is playing host to both the CECAFA Under17 Girls Championships and the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup starting this week. The Senior Men’s event is scheduled from the 07th to 19th December 2019. Uganda has been pooled in Group A with Burundi, Eritrea, Somalia and Djibouti while Group B has Zanzibar, Tanzania, Kenya, and Sudan with fixtures as below

SWIMMING
Kirabo Namutebi won six gold and three silver medals to lead Uganda with 2,392 points to finish in second position at the CANA Zone III Swimming Championships in Karasani, Nairobi, Kenya. Hosts Kenya won the championships with 2,447.5 Points while Tanzania, South Africa Zambia, Burundi Susan, Djibouti, and Malawi followed in that order.

BASKETBALL
In the National Basketball League Finals in the Women’s category, JKL Lady Dolphins faces off yet again UCU Lady Canons for Game 5 today at the MTN Arena, Lugogo today, 06th December 2019. The teams currently draw with 2-2 wins each.
BOXING
The Uganda Boxing Federation has embarked on a qualification campaign to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with a roadmap that will allow for selection of a National Team. On 16th to 23rd December 2019, the federation will hold the Olympic Trials at Lugogo.
